Artisti in Piazza - Pennabilli Festival XXVI edition

Since 1998, Ultimo Punto cultural association has been organizing the international performing arts festival, ARTISTI IN PIAZZA. Just from the beginning it has stood out as one of the most important street art festivals organized in Italy and over the years it has evolved into a multidisciplinary festival, recognized and supported by Italian Ministry of Culture.

In 5 days, the historic centre of Pennabilli welcomes about 50 international performer and collectives, over 200 artists, about 350 performances and 30,000 public attendance for each edition. The performance of artists - together with the collateral actions as workshops, art installations, exhibitions of figurative arts, walking act and land art, parties and evening DJ-set, the kid's area, the handicraft market and a varied offers of food - are the backbone of the Festival. The festival is born from the idea of enhancing all the expressions of art, from theatre and music to contemporary circus, dance, puppetry, and visual arts, presenting them in public places that become a stage for all kind of entertainment, where to feel new energies and good vibrations transmitted by art and moments of shared beauty.

After 25 years of activity, the Festival has conquered a prominent position in the European panorama, every year we receive more than 500 applications from worldwide artists, and we count on average 50 accredited operators and art directors that come in Pennabilli to intercept new shows: the festival is recognized as an important professional showcase with the aim of contributing to the professional growth of emerging artistic realities.

After two years of pandemic, during which we were forced to modify the festival structure and to adapt locations and shows to the situation, renouncing to a big part of the audience and the artists, finally in 2022 we’ll return to our original format. The 26^ ed. will take place from 1st to 5th June in Pennabilli. The program includes more than 30 artists/collectives (confirmed to date), representing countless disciplines, selected according to the general programmatic and thematic lines: experiential and interactive shows, site-specific landscape shows, arts interactions. It’s the result of a careful election process that aims to highlight the originality, innovation, enhancement of tradition, involvement of the public, multidisciplinary character and new art languages and poetics.
