Belgian Music Days
The “Belgian Music Days” biennale was created in March 2018 and aims at rediscovering the Belgian musical heritage from 1830. Without being a "premiering" festival it puts a strong emphasis on contemporary composers. Besides written contemporary classical compositions, the repertoire includes electroacoustic and jazz compositions, all disciplines that are thought in music conservatoires.
The BMD are an itinerant event and they will always combine professional and students concerts. The first edition took place in Leuven at the Luca School of Arts in March 2018. The second will be held in March 2020 in Mons at the Arsonic hall of the Musiques Nouvelles ensemble in collaboration with ARTS au Carré and the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie.
The artistic committee comprises by representatives of the following associations : Componisten Archipel Vlaanderen (ComAV), Forum des Compositeurs, Kunstenpunt, Point Culture, Matrix, ISCM Vlaanderen and the Union des Compositeurs Belges.
The Belgian Music Days are supported by the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles, the Vlaamse Gemeenschap, the Deutschschprachigen Gemeinschaft Belgiens, and the SABAM.
