Europalia has been organising arts biennales, focusing on a different guest country, since 1969. Its 4 month multidisciplinary programme comprises events throughout Belgium and in other European countries. The programme is built up around 4 pillars: heritage, contemporary scene, new creations and exchange. Europalia stimulates an open dialogue between cultures in an atmosphere of trust. Europalia's festivals bring about enduring cooperation between artistic partners in and outside Europe.
