INTERPLAY International Contemporary Dance Festival

INTERPLAY Festival is a point of reference in the City of Turin and in the Italian panorama. The Festival, active for 21 years, selects the leading shows of the new European scene, the opportunities for artists, audiences and operators to meet young national and international creativity. A window on the artistic poetics of the present, sometimes exasperated, uncomfortable, at other times ironic, of which Interplay follows and shares the illustrated ones, creating opportunities for visibility.

The artists of Interplay are the new generations of contemporary dance, choreographers who have studied at important choreographic academies and universities, worked with Masters, established companies and now with their courageous and rigorous aesthetic choices, to take us towards new choreographic dimensions, approaching us to territories little explored.

Taking up the challenge of a particular year, this year Interplay plans 20 companies, of which 13 are Italian and 7 foreign, of which two are non-EU. The journey through the different choreographic geographies this year also includes an evening dedicated to digital shows. Two scheduled shows will be created specifically for streaming, thanks to the call launched at the end of 2020 by the Mosaico Danza Association: INTERPLAY STILL DIGITAL, pilot project born after the Pandemic experience and the compulsion to work in closed theaters without the possibility of reaching the public in the traditional way.
Two unpublished projects selected by a jury of experts will become a medium-length film for Interplay StillDigital/2021 and a short film for the Off section by mid-May, offering the winning artists the opportunity to take risks in finding new ways of presenting a choreographic work that you do not use. only the body as the only protagonist, as would happen in a good video shoot of a dance show, but you enhance the choreography thanks to the help of video technologies.
