West Cork Chamber Music Festival 2020
Bantry, Ireland

The West Cork Chamber Music Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2020 and welcomes a stellar line-up including four great Quartets, Pacifica, Signum, Doric and Dudok, violinists Vadim Gluzman, Alina Ibragimova, Nurit Stark, Rosanne Philippens and Mairéad Hickey, violists Brett Dean and Dana Zemtsov, and cellists Johannes Moser, Leonard Elschenbroich and Anastasia Kobekina.
The 25th Festival itself is full of stories old and new. A Hans Anderson tale is given a new face, Ophelia and Camille Claudel tell it as it was, Handel’s Amida is abandoned yet again while Aminta and Fillide settle their differences. Beethoven year is celebrated with the late quartets and the 25th anniversary is being marked with a series of commissions, co-commissions and premieres.
There will be over fifty concerts including Fringe concerts spread out across West Cork. All our favourites – Bach, Mozart and Haydn; Schubert, Schumann and Brahms; Mendelssohn brother and sister; Ravel and Fauré; Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and Weinberg, Bartók and Britten make their appearances on the stage alongside familiar contemporaries like Pēteris Vasks, Brett Dean, Deirdre Gribbin, Sofia Gubaidulina and Thomas Larcher and fascinating new names like Caroline Shaw, David Lang and Jake Heggie.
The programme will be available at www.westcorkmusic.ie in late December and the printed brochure will be released mid-January. Priority Booking opens 16 January 2020. General Booking opens March 2020.
