Biserna grana
Festival “Biserna grana” has been deeply rooted in preserving and promoting cultural heritage since 2008. A unique concept in Serbia, the festival highlights the treasures of folklore - traditional costumes, jewelry, and attire, with the aim of emphasizing the importance of preserving folk heritage. In 2024, the festival will be held for the seventeenth time, organized by the Cultural Center Mladost Futog.
The main goal of the festival is to showcase the richness of folklore, emphasizing the significance of preserving material folklore heritage as a crucial element of the cultural identity of each nation. This includes original costumes and headwear, authentic materials, production techniques, and costume forms. The festival particularly emphasizes the presentation of old techniques in textile production and costume construction, highlighting the necessity of creating new costumes/traditional outfits - replicas as faithful as possible to the originals.
Through specially designed programs focused on continuity, the festival successfully transfers skills and knowledge from older to younger generations, building bridges between traditional and contemporary creativity. Actively utilizing new technologies, including interactive elements and digital platforms, the festival seeks to educate and engage the audience in innovative ways to preserve cultural heritage.
The festival program encompasses a costume parade that integrates musical and scenic heritage, seminars, workshops for a diverse audience, exhibitions showcasing the richness of cultural heritage, meet-up events, and concerts that further enrich the festival experience.
By gathering and connecting cultural and artistic societies, institutions, and individuals, the festival creates a unique focus on one theme - traditional costumes. It serves as a platform for cultural exchange and connection, fostering a deeper respect for the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage."
