City of Women - International Festival of Contemporary Arts
The program of the 30th City of Women festival is part of a broader topic that is discussed in the City of Women. The jubilee year will be marked by the theme of SISTERHOOD AND UNITY. Sisterhood becomes a tool for questioning and reversing concepts such as brotherhood, which tend to totalitarian inclusion of all under the supposedly neutral category of men, from a critical, feminist, decolonial and intersectional standpoint that focuses on relational (rather than individualistic) values such as caring, empathy and solidarity.
In line with our mission, through our work and the festival we support those who participate, document and promote struggles that envision an egalitarian future. The works presented in our programme range from calls for social justice and gender equality in various areas of life to asserting and obtaining legal rights for different groups when they are absent, focusing on cases where gender, which is often intertwined with other debilitating personal circumstances, further draws out social or political exclusion.
