Kontinent Dalsland

Kontinent Dalsland is a new festival that presents some of the most celebrated contemporary artists, composers and sound artists of our time in a forum where the creativity of the future is nurtured and presented in new and innovative ways in order to connect with a wider audience. World premieres and older masterpieces are performed by pioneering artists from jazz, opera, avant-garde, folk music, electronic music and classical music.

This year, the in-between runs like a red thread through Kontinent Dalsland's programme.

In the work "INTERVALL", scenographer Kjersti Alm-Eriksen has constructed a stage where the music takes on a peculiar poetic dimension as it is created in an in-between, and controlled by the musicians in ensemble Pinquins from the wings.

At a time when a nation-building craze is sweeping the world, the Turkish ensemble Hezarfen draws attention to the in-between space in which displaced people find themselves. In the programme "Recollection of Displacement" they portray these experiences of flight and exile, both in Turkey and in a wider European perspective.

Kontinent Dalsland also happens in an in-between this year as we choose, instead of having a festival during the holiday season, to collaborate with cultural actors in Dalsland during their active periods.
