15° Figari Interational Short Film fest
Figari International Short Film Fest is an event focusing on short films, new media and digital arts. Born in 2011 as a competitive forum for independent short films, it has grown to become an unmissable appointment for the expression of young artists and renowned professionals. It is the first Italian short film festival with an international market focused on short films, making it an excellence for Sardinia and the entire Peninsula. Since its first edition, the FISFF has set itself the objective of fostering dialogue and debate in order to introduce the public to non-mainstream film forms that are undervalued by normal distribution channels. Over the years, the festival has attracted authors, directors, producers and distributors who have come together to participate in unique market events through formal and informal settings. For this reason, FISFF has the function of fostering new collaborations by bringing together young European talents and important representatives of the short film scene.Since 2011, the FISFF has selected the best short films on the international scene and is one of the most important cultural events in Italy. Held in beautiful locations on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, the FISFF organises 7 days of screenings, previews, special events and market activities. Each year, an international and expert jury awards prizes in the following categories from among the 50 short films selected- International Prize- National and Regional Prize- Animation Prize- Red Shoes Prize- Online Competition - Rough DiamondsThen there are the special prizes awarded by FranceTv and RaiCinema, both acquisition prizes made available by the two broadcasters, and the Best Italian Producer prize that guarantees the possibility of participating in the Marchè du Film court in Clermont Ferrand. Other prizes will be awarded during the festival, winking at the more ‘glamorous’ side of cinema: the Beatrice Bracco Prize, which aims to recognise the value of the stage performances of the best young Italian actors of the year (awarded, among others, to Alessandro Borghi, Salvatore Esposito, Giacomo Ferrara); and the Communication Prize, which recognises the commitment of those personalities who, by using the medium of audiovisuals in an unconventional, innovative and avant-garde manner, succeed in making communication their hallmark. Many industry appointments characterize the professional days:- Meet Fest: presentation of international events - such as markets, development workshops or professional events - dedicated to short films;- Long Story Short: b2b meetings between distributors, buyers and festivals enabling the circulation of short films at an international level- LOOKING4: FISFF's incubation project that selects the best projects under development or finalisation and puts them in contact with major players
The festival enjoys the patronage and support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and works in synergy with the Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission by organising numerous film literacy activities for it throughout the year. FISFF collaborates with the CELCAM department of theUniversity of Cagliari - that provides the festival with interns for the period of the event and from which programmers are selected to follow the entire pre-selection of films in competition - and can boast many years of collaboration with the Centro Nazionale del Corto with Rai Cinema, with CNA Cinema e Audiovisivo and with CNA Cinema e Audiovisivo Under 40.On an international basis, the festival has active collaborations with international broadcasters France TV, Canal +, Shorts TV, Prime Video, RTVE, Movistar, WeShort and Mubi.
