ExploreZ Festival 2023

ExploreZ is a multidisciplinary, international festival that makers, international guests and city residents create together, for a diverse and inclusive audience.
ZID Theater is the producer of the annual festival. The DNA of ZID – diverse, inclusive, international and multidisciplinary – is therefore intertwined in the festival.

ExploreZ Festival takes place annually in May in Amsterdam, and then travels to various cities in the Netherlands (ExploreZ on Tour).

ExploreZ mainly shows work that has never been shown in the Netherlands before. It promotes dialogue and encounters between the makers and the public and puts the spotlight on a topical theme every year. The contemporary city and the stories of city residents are the source of inspiration for the productions, with the city also being the stage for those stories and productions.

The participating makers are convinced that art can bring about a transformation in everyone who comes into contact with it.

A festival right in the neighborhood, to connect local and global, national and international. A festival for a wide audience, where makers with a refugee past and/or migration background are central.
