Himara International Music Festival
The International Music Festival in Himara arose as a necessity to revive music after an almost two-year period of total artistic abstinence due to the pandemic as well as a cultural and entertaining alternative at the Albanian Riviera, for all those music lovers who choose this undiscovered and wonderful region to visit for the summer season holidays.
The first edition of the Festival took place in 2022 and was organised in five colourful concerts that luckily important musical celebrities became part of. From famous pianist Matthias Kirschnereit and the most prominent chamber music groups including the Quartet Berlin-Tokyo and Duo Neria to the Latin American jazz improvisations by Ana Carla Maza, this festival was a fantastic musical journey where everybody was able to find a part of itself.
The goal of the Festival is to become a tradition in the area of Himara and its seven villages by highlighting and promoting the values of local cultural heritage intertwined with the values of European music, thus becoming a Festival of reference for innovation, creativity and excellence.
The vision of the future is to transform the Festival into an international meeting centre for musicians which through concerts, workshops and open talks will aim to formulate ideas for the future of music and its benefits for tourism in particular and the market economy in general.
