The only world class and international scale festival in the region, the Khachaturian International Festival was founded in 2013 by conductor Sergey Smbatyan. The latter is also the Artistic Director of the project. Today the festival certainly ranks equally with many good-standing European festivals; moreover, it is the only project in Armenia which expands its borders far beyond the country: Italy, Russia, France, Belgium - several of the numerous countries where the festival was presented.

Every autumn the brightest stars of the classical music world, to name a few, Alexander Romanovsky, Mayu Kishima, Maria Domashenko, Ning Feng, Zakhar Bron and many others, come together in Yerevan to build up a platform for the development and strengthening of international cultural relations, which are the basis of productive dialogue between different nations and the civilised society on the whole.

The Khachaturian International Festival is mainly a celebration of classical music, but there is also a special place for jazz and world music. It offers its audience a variety of musical experience: major symphony and intimate chamber concerts - everyone is free to choose the most desirable format. The festival is unique in its repertoire: 15 world and 39 Armenian premieres only in 4 years.
