Music for children: excitingly different

The »klangfest« is a music festival for children with outstanding international and Hamburg productions beyond the mainstream.

A festival where children not only experience high-quality concerts and music theater productions, but also get the opportunity to become active themselves. On the one hand spontaneously during the festival playing the sound installations and being involved in interactive performances, on the other hand, for example, the show »Music is my Country«: Young people - most of them refugees - worked out a show with Dance and music in the weeks before the klangfest.

Such a festival is not only important for children and families. It also enables the professional audience to get to know and exchange ideas and, in addition, gives the public an opportunity to experience what else happens to us often in secret or elsewhere in the world.

For schools, kindergartens and family audiences, all Kampnagel rooms and the outdoor area will be open for three days: 10 productions and about 25 shows invite Hamburg's children.

The significance of the festival is also evident in the merger of a large number of top-class partners. Elbphilharmonie, NDR Bigband, Young ClassX, the State Youth Music school Hamburg, Melting Pop and the Ohrlotsen (our young radio reporters who accompany the »klangfest« journalistically) are among them.

Our Photo Documentation 2018 gives a vivid impression of the variety and quality of the klangfest and of the elements that make up the wonderful whole.

The »klangfest« 2019 will take place for the second time from 10 to 12 May. The programming is not yet published, but we will send it out latest February.

There is no application form for touring companies. If you are interested in our festival 2020 please send us some information via email to info@kinderkinder.de including links to videos of your show/sound installation/other form of music. Preferable are formats that do not require language and are aimed at audiences under the age of 12.

We also would be very happy to invite you to this event 2019 as a professional. You get the chance to see several shows (we are recommending some if you get in touch with us) and meet up with other professionals from education departments of large and small theaters, concert halls and opera houses. We are discussing the shows and ideas behind them, get to know the artists/directors and connect the scene of musical theatre for children. We are also planning a little get together with all the artists, institutions and everyone involved in the festival.
