ON THE EDGE - festival für experimentelle zirkuskunst

ON THE EDGE is Vienna's first festival for experimental circus arts.
We open up a space for circus art that ventures into performance art or visual art and show works by artists who abstract or deconstruct their own practice and rethink the performance space or the role of the audience. We promote bold artistic and political positions and encourage experimentation.
We offer a six-day programme of performances accompanied by installations, photo exhibitions, artist discussions and professional workshops. The festival is connected to our residence programme 'circus re:searched' and accompanies artistic research processes in the long term in order to give more visibility to exciting artistic discourses.

The festival is organised by ‘KreativKultur’ in close collaboration with ‘WUK performing arts’. After a first pilot phase in January 2019, the festival will start its first official round in November 2020 under the title ON THE EDGE # 10.
