Primarolia Festival - Networks 2021
Primarolia Festival 2021 with its main theme ‘Networks’ explores further intersections of contemporary art, historical research and intermedia collaborations. Main concepts for this year’s festival and contemporary art exhibition are the common etymologies of text and textile; inspired by the meaning of revolution as a message of the 200 years celebrations of Greek Independence War.
The contemporary art exhibition ‘A stitch in time saves nine’ presents newly commissioned artworks from artists working with textiles, performance and spatial practices. Primarolia organisation launches its collaboration with the prestigious Athens Digital Arts Festival; with a series of curated screenings inspired by landscape, seas, journeys as well as collective memory. This year’s program also presents to the public a series of sound stories derived from anecdotal archives of the ongoing Oral History project of Primarolia platform. The festival ends with a two-day symposium focused on the socio-economical impact of the Corinthian currant on the 1821 Greek Independence War.
