“Regards Croisés” Portugal is a choreographic cooperation project for the diffusion of contemporary dance in North Portugal and the promotion of mediation & dialogue between the public, artists and educational structures, according to the practice of different artistic and cultural visions coming from distinct geographical realities (Portugal, Spain, France). The festival is organized, since 2020, by Kale Cooperativa Cultural, in partnership with CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz, and Fundición Bilbao (Bilbao-Spain), with the support of the Directorate General of the Arts Portugal and the Municipality of Gaia.2022 EditionThe III Edition of the cross-border cooperation festival "Regards Croisés Portugal", took place in Vila Nova de Gaia between the 1st and 3rd of April 2022. The venue "Armazém22" and the local Auditorium of Gaia, hosted contemporary dance performances, workshops and open rehearsals for dancers and the local community.The official opening, at the Auditório Municipal de Gaia on April 1st, presented the new creation of KALE Dance Company: "TRIPLO [en . fr . es]". Following the spirit of sharing cross-border languages of the competition, KALE proposed the creation of performance in triple format under the vision of three choreographers of different aesthetics: Daniela Cruz (pt), a creator expanding within contemporary dance in Portugal; Hamid Ben Mahi (fr) with a new French vision on urban dances; and the artistic transdisciplinarity of Igor Calonge (es).On the 2nd of April, "Armazém22" it was presented the Basque Country Company LED SILHOUETTE (es), with the piece "LYS", a contemporary dance performance with choreography by Jon López and Martxel Rodriguez and interpretation by Katalin Arana, Laura Lliteras and Marina Fullana.The closure of the festival took place on April 3rd at the local Auditorium of Gaia, with Cie Samuel Mathieu [fr], highlighting "C'est tout + [DÉCLIN]² QUATUOR", transdisciplinary meeting between two artists, Jonas Leclere, contemporary circus artist (belts), and Fabienne Donnio, dancer. The Festival highlights also a new space for discovery of Portuguese emergent choreographers/dancers: JANELA PORTUGAL, presenting "if maybe" by São Castro, a creation for the K2 Youth Dance Company of the Ginasiano Dance School.The III Edition of the cross-border festival Regards Croisés Portugal, was organised in the framework of the Portugal-France "Saison Croisée", in partnership with Cie Samuel Mathieu (fr).
