Alkantara Fest XX edition

Alkantara fest, which, like the river from which it takes its name (Alcantara, which derives from the Arabic Al Quantarah, i.e. 'the bridge'), is an event dedicated since 2023 to the rediscovery and enhancement of folk and world music, both auteur and contemporary, through a research pathway on the musical styles currently in use, which allows us to safeguard the depth of our musical traditions and cultural roots, while projecting them into a current international panorama.

It is also a project that fits right into the sphere of so-called territorial marketing, to promote Sicily as a land of music and tourism and to relaunch all related and connected sectors, not least that of musical craftsmanship and musical production by made in Sicily artists. However, the title of the event, with its reference to a specific territorial area, should not be misleading, since for us the Alcantara is not only one of the most representative places in Sicily, but also and above all a metaphor for everything that, while being typically Sicilian, projects itself into a space of international cultural relations; for everything that, while having ancient roots, leans towards the future.

Sustainability is our goal. Use of local zero food, compostable plates and crockery, recycling of materials and food resources. Concerts are mainly held in atmospheric and unusual locations in the midst of nature, supported by collateral activities such as dance, workshops and tourist excursions, and the integrated offer of local food, wine and beer, thanks to the collaboration with local producers, operators and companies, the exceptional weather that often lasts well into autumn, the unique combination of Etna and the sea, the nightly jam sessions with the most diverse artists, and a generous spirit of cooperation and sharing, all of which have become the magic formula for the success of Alkantara fest over time.
