AngelicA - International Music Festival - 34th year

03 May 2024 - 31 May 2024
Bologna, Italy Bologna, Italy Bologna, Italy

The AngelicA Festival, one of Italy's most important festivals of contemporary and research music and recognised worldwide - "If one takes a tour of musical circles in culturally vibrant (and avant-garde) cities such as Berlin and Amsterdam, one will often hear: 'Bologna? That's where AngelicA is!" - Helmut Failoni, Corriere della Sera, 14 April 2010) - will see its 34rd edition in 2024. AngelicA presents research and contemporary music with particular attention to new trends, offering, through commissions of new musical works for small and large ensembles (including orchestra), greater support and a prestigious context to young composers who are presented alongside internationally recognised musicians. AngelicA's task is above all to seize the signs of transformations in musical creativity, to grasp new nuclei of beauty, and to make programming increasingly a concrete fact, involving musicians and composers in a deeper way and able to connect both with the creative energies of the territory and with other national and international realities. Angelica 2024 will present projects with a European and international dimension. The originality and juxtaposition of certain elements will characterise the Festival as a living project that does not limit itself to inviting musicians or composers but asks them to get involved by exploring new territories. The musicians and composers will present different works: from solo concerts to larger ensembles, and in some cases, they will intertwine with each other and also involve musicians, ensembles and orchestras.
