BREMF 2024: Connections
Brighton Early Music Festival's theme for 2024 is 'Connections', and Artistic Director Deborah Roberts says “If we start with the premise that everything is connected, it’s then a question of selecting some musical and cultural connections that have had a major impact in the past, and that have a continuing power to connect with us now.”
Events include:
- pre-festival events and workshops from 7 September
- festival opener with Red Priest
- forgotten masterpieces by Francesco Scarlatti with Armonico Consort
- lunchtime concerts from Blondel, Flute & Frets and Rune
- music, dance and stories from India, West Africa and the Mediterranean
- Cappella Pratensis celebrating the wedding of Margaret of York to Charles the Bold
- music and a lightshow inspired by Hildegard of Bingen
- Irish folk meets early music with Irlandiani
- Carissimi's Jephte with BREMF Live soloists
- Cantoría exploring the connected Tudor courts of England and Spain
Tickets will be on sale from July 2024.
