Festival de Marseille

Committed to its time, to its city, and to the world, the Festival de Marseille affirms its identity by developing its artistic project, the connection with audiences, and its national and international presence.

Dance, movements or simple gestures, through the multitude of dramaturgies they offer and the diversity of representations they allow, claim a central place that helps make the city a playground, a place of research and of sharing, where bodies are seen and where one opens up to the diversity of ideas and artistic expressions of today. Creation in innovative forms (public space, hybridisation of styles and cultures, ‘co-creation’ experiences with residents) is strongly supported for artists from Marseille and its surrounding region as well as for teams of international stature. By developing its international presence, stimulating the artistic vitality of the region, and encouraging dialogue between cultures, the Festival de Marseille asserts the Mediterranean identity and history of the city, its openness to the world, and its cultural diversity.

Relying on about fifteen sites throughout the city (theaters, gardens, heritage sites, unconventional spaces...), the Festival takes artists and audiences on a journey that opens to the vibrant local territory. Throughout the year, it invents projects, actions, and dynamics, both social and artistic, to transform the relationships between art and citizens.

The 29th edition of the Festival de Marseille will take place throughout the city from 14 June to 6 July 2024, and will present about twenty shows, performances, films, and exhibitions.
