FITEI 47

FITEI is a cultural institution whose ambition is to promote theatre and the performing arts, as well as to encourage artistic creation, through the organisation of an annual festival with an outstanding vision in the Iberian Peninsula.

FITEI offers a diverse programme with three main focuses: a theatre festival with national and international performances and activities; a theatre festival entirely dedicated to children and young people; and a digital platform to showcase digital performances.

The festival allows international companies to tour, thus making the art of different cultures known, and encourages national artists to tour outside Portugal by inviting programmers of various nationalities to attend the festival and by generating moments of dialogue between programmers and artists. Annually, FITEI opens several grants specifically for programmers with accommodation and food included to stimulate their attendance. FITEI also offers artistic residencies for international artists to explore, create, and develop their work, presenting their results in a future edition. We also invite artists of various nationalities to give workshops/masterclasses and participate in debates/conversations during the festival, this way we reach new audiences and praise different points of view.
