Fringify Festival Hamburg - 10th anniversary edition

Born from the successful decade-long journey of Hauptsache Frei, the festival that has been a beacon for independent performing arts in Hamburg and across Germany, we are excited to introduce its transformation into Fringify Festival Hamburg. This evolution represents a dynamic shift, capturing the essence of fringe and pioneering arts while building on the foundation laid by Hauptsache Frei's significant contributions to the cultural landscape.

Under the new artistic direction of Ksenia Ravvina and Alexandar Hadjiev, Fringify Festival aims to strengthen its role not only as a platform for artistic expression but also as a field for political engagement. The festival’s tradition of renewing itself every three years with new leadership allows it to remain vibrant and forward-thinking, drawing from a wealth of experiences and competencies. Our extensive local, national, and now international networks serve as a backbone for the festival, emphasising sustainable and accessible structures. We are excited to announce the building of a pavilion of the independent scene that will serve as its central hub for the independent art scene, inaugurating an active programme from September 2024. This new space is designed to foster shared use, networking, and increased visibility for diverse participants. Functioning as a laboratory, a showcase area, and an accessible venue in the heart of the city, the pavilion embodies the festival’s ethos of innovation, community, and inclusivity, marking a new chapter in our journey.
