GENERA AZIONE FESTIVAL

03 Jun 2024 - 07 Jun 2024
Borgosatollo, Italy

There are some clichés that are quite rooted, not without reason, in theatrical enjoyment as it is widespread today, between old and new generations, between languages and themes of the scene, especially in the infinitesimal Italian suburbs.

The first is that only the elderly go to the theatre, and that the elderly are, by their nature, good spectators: their involvement is resolved in the gaze. No relationship, no participation is asked of them.

The second is that young people don't go to the theatre. And they don't go, even if they sometimes attend - during school time or not - theatre workshops; they don't go because they have the vague feeling that in the theatre their themes, their current affairs, what they face every day: in short, are never talked about.

So, GENERA AZIONE FESTIVAL wants to try to diametrically reverse these clichés, proposing an architecture of activities that can intervene in artistic terms on these clichés, trying to dispel them. It does this by first proposing the meeting, in all its forms: with a cycle of workshops designed for over-65s; with a programme of shows that address the harsh and complex themes of the present time in a poetic and ironic way; with an after-festival planned as a big party in the square with a DJ set, with a series of talks with artists, operators and scholars conceived as a chat between friends, perhaps over a beer. From 3 to 7 June 2024, servomutoTeatro will try to tell the power of art and culture as driving energies of change, rebirth and innovation. The story, essentially, that the theatre is a container, and that we can put anything inside: desires, fears, activities and leisure, loves and conflicts, stories and people; but above all, that we can put ourselves inside, whatever our age and experience, and the life of our communities.
