IX Venice International Performance Art Week

13 Dec 2024 - 15 Dec 2024
Venezia, Italy

The event and exhibition will consist of a video and multimedia installation exhibition and a programme of live performances. It is estimated that 50 artists worldwide will be involved in the event. All the artists and curators will participate and discuss their works in symposia, and daily artist talks will be open to the public. The Live art event, thus, will also function as think tanks for outlining conceptual visions to overcome imposed and external human conditioning, generating reflection on topics such as poetic and civil sovereignty and those in line with the founders of the European unity, such as justice, peace, inclusion, diversity, equality, fundamental rights and integration.

Extending in multiple venues and outdoors is impacting and generates a broader reflection in the citizens. The event aims to promote the practices of performance art and Live art on a local, national and European scale, to lay the foundations for future professional opportunities for the participating European performance artists, Live art artists, curators and cultural operators. The series adheres to the principles of trans-national cultural collaboration, mobility, temporary artistic community, and cultural innovation to revivify geographical areas hit by unjust, dramatic events. The mission of the Venice International Performance Art Week is spread across its educational learning programme and its evolutionary projects “Co-Creation Live Factory”, and “Body Matters” performance opera series. Co-Creation Artist-in residences are hubs where collaborative artistic works can flourish, they help form temporary artistic communities, strengthening individual practices once they innervate into a broader creative collective process. They are enriching opportunities for the participating artists to collectively share the findings of their artistic research, fully immerse into the practice of performance art and Live art under the guidance of experienced tutors. Through their in-depth methodologies, the tutors will accompany the artists in producing new solo and collaborative live performances related to the project topics.
