Mamatita Festival 8

The Mamatita Festival, which in 2022 became the first non-competitive circus festival in Sardinia, wishes to develop an unprecedented cultural offer dedicated to the “new circus” in the Catalan city, enhancing its identity and international, cultural, and tourist potential. Particular interest will be given to the artists and companies who have never been to Sardinia, who experience circus arts in a multidisciplinary sense and who decline in an original way the potential of the new circus. The selection of guest artists of the Mamatita Festival in 2024 also pays particular attention to female artists and young artists, who seek innovation and experimentation within their works. They will represent more than 50% of the protagonists of the 30 shows that make up the program of the eighth edition of the festival. Many artists of Sardinian origin who have gained an important experience or who reside abroad will present their work in Sardinia for the first time in 2024 such as companies like Mumusic Circus (ES), Cia Eia (ES), Miguel Barreto y La Pequeña Victoria Cen (ES), Karcocha Gerardo Castro (CL/ES), the AFUMA (TGO), the Mobile Theaters of Girovago & Rondella and the C'Art Company (IT), and the artist Fabrizio Solinas, Sardinian with a great international experience, based in France. The international company blucinQue will return after the great success of 2022. The project LandWorks all'Argentiera will host in residence the artists of the new production Mamatita 2024. Karcocha will arrive in Sardinia for the first time thanks to the international collaboration with the SANTIAGO OFF festival. The Mamatita 2024 will host the winning company 2023 of the Circ_Up 2.0 project conceived by A.C.C.I., with the aim of promoting and enhancing the new Italian creations of contemporary circus and contributing to the dissemination of this art in the territory: The Gera Circus company with the show ARBORES. The Mamatita Festival 2024 confirms the participation of L'Albero del Macramè, specialized in circus-social activities, excellence in the national panorama in the field of the teaching of balance through the use of “monocycle”, which activated in the 2022 Mamatita Festival a virtuous collaboration with the newly born APS of social circus “Circolare” of Porto Torres. This new edition continues to grow and bring international companies and artists to Sardinia, some for the first time in Italy, keeping the artistic “bridge” active with Catalonia and Spain and this year also reserving a space for non-EU productions (Togo and Chile).
