The Three Palaces Part Two

31 Oct 2025 - 02 Nov 2025
Floriana, Malta

The Three Palaces Festival is a festival that is interdisciplinary by its very nature and setting. In a city measuring 900 metres by 630 metres, Valletta is an exquisite Baroque gem boasting several auberges and palaces and 30 churches... including the magnificence and splendour of St John’s Co-Cathedral. A city abounding with glorious facades. This festival has the privilege and indulgence to be set in Malta. It is a festival that I consider to be a precious stone in Malta’s bejewelled crown. We are surrounded by extraordinary places or spaces we walk past each day. Sometimes – or many times – we do not even look up, or look around, let alone walk in. The Three Palaces Festival programming embraces our glorious architecture alongside our rich history and heritage, creating experiences around this. The strength of the festival lies not just in its architectural setting, but also in its geographical one. Being Mediterranean, and from an island with a unique position in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, acting as a bridge between Europe and the African coast, and between the Middle East and Western Mediterranean, I believe it is in our nature to bring different cultures together in our programming. We weave different cultures, East to West, North to South, into this wonderful, rich, colourful, kaleidoscopic tapestry through collaboration across the different art forms and with artists from around the world. The Three Palaces Festival does not shy away from celebrating the past. Its extraordinary architecture, and the art and beauty of that time, but it also has, at its very core, the mission to celebrate the now and the tomorrow, through commissioning new work and bringing the art of today to all, through dance, drama, music, film, light, word, visual art, and interactive and immersive performances and installations.
