16th Open House Festival
An International festival dedicated to the body and movement through the lens of contemporary choreographic creation and performance. The International Contemporary Dance and Performance Festival, Open House, brings together local and international productions, happenings, and people to create a unique festival experience centered around different interpretations of the body and movement. The festival aims to bring contemporary artistic creation closer to the city and its people and contribute to the evolution of the choreographic scene on the island. The goal of the curatorial line is to host performances that are open to new interpretations and critical approaches while simultaneously exploring choreographic structures with innovative and interdisciplinary means. We see the concept of house as an imaginary space that hosts our artistic values: the promotion of experimentation with choreographic methodologies and forms, innovation, extroversion, and the provocative rhetoric of artistic content. We view the festival as an opportunity to share our ideas around the question: How do we perceive contemporary dance today? We open our house by hosting our festival in various theatres, art centres, and public spaces. The 16th edition of OHF is not a celebration. It is a reflection. It responds to the urgency of our times by reclaiming the city as both a stage and a site of resistance. This year’s curatorial approach addresses the sociopolitical tensions that shape our urban, emotional and regional landscapes. Through performative walks, participatory works, performances and embodied dialogues, the festival explores how artistic expression and personal experience can become tools for connection and critical presence.2025 Line up:Alexis Vasileiou (CY) / THIRAMA, Melina Sofocleous (CY) / SPARKLY FACADES (working title), Maria Papageorgiou (CY) / WALKING INTO IT (working title), Armin Hokmi (DE) / SHIRAZ, Arkadi Zaides (FR) / NECROPOLIS, Charlie Khalil Prince (NL) / BODY SYMPHONIC, Petros Konnaris (CY)& Belinda Papavasileiou (CY) / SLIPS AWAY FROM YOU, Eleftheria Sokratous (CY) / WHAT LOVE GOT TO DO WITH WALKING BABY, X.ypno – Tasos (CY) / CONCERT PERFORMANCE, Julia Georgiadou (CY) / LIGHT POINTSParallel events: Dear Festival and FriendsA working group will collectively attend all the performances and meet daily to discuss and record in writing the thoughts, impressions, and questions sparked by the works.
