180° - Laboratory for Innovative Art Festival 12th Edition
180° is a dynamic, innovative platform for interdisciplinary collaboration between international and local artists. Through its distinctive format, the festival creates conditions for artistic experiments in which participants—working together for the first time—develop new projects within a limited timeframe. This sparks encounters between different artistic languages that expand boundaries and challenge conventional ideas of art. As part of its commitment to the sustainable development of the independent scene, 180° also runs the Community Lab project, offering educational formats, mentorship, and professional network-building opportunities for young artists and cultural activists in an international context. In 2025, the program will also include CriticLab—a project for developing contemporary cultural writing and discourse in the field of the independent arts. The 12th edition of 180° – Laboratory for Innovative Art will take place from 11 to 17 October 2025 in Sofia. This year’s theme is PARAD-ISO—abstract and open to free interpretation by the artists. True to the spirit of the festival, we do not impose a predefined meaning; instead, we offer participants full freedom to discover and create their own responses through the collaborative process. The festival brings together artists from different disciplines—experimental music, contemporary dance, performance, visual arts, literature, and more—who create and present their projects to the public within a three-day intensive process. Presentations may take the form of installations, concerts, work-in-progress showings, or hybrid formats, with the primary focus on process, risk, and encounters between unfamiliar artistic universes.
