Belgrade Dance Festival 25th

12 Mar 2027 - 13 Apr 2027
Belgrade, Serbia

The 25th Belgrade Dance Festival continues the Festival’s mission of bringing outstanding international contemporary dance and choreography to audiences in Serbia, while creating a meeting point for established artists, emerging voices, local audiences and the international performing arts community. The 2027 edition presents a diverse programme of internationally acclaimed companies and choreographers from Europe and beyond, with performances taking place in Belgrade and Novi Sad between March and April 2027.

The programme brings together different generations, artistic languages and cultural contexts, ranging from large-scale ensemble works to intimate and highly individual choreographic creations. The programme includes Sydney Dance Company with Rafael Bonachela’s momenta, Hung Dance from Taipei with Birdy by Lai Hung-chung, Akram Khan Company with Chotto Desh, Emanuel Gat Dance with Five Days in the Sun, Brazilian choreographer Alice Ripoll with Breath, Akram Odedra with Songs of the Bulbul, and Mamela’s Artistic Movement from South Africa with Hatched Ensemble.

The Festival also presents a shared evening dedicated to a new generation of Italian artists, featuring Lost Movement, Equilibrio Dinamico, Cornelia and dancehALL. Performances are hosted by some of Serbia’s key cultural venues, including the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, Opera & Theatre Madlenianum, Atelje 212 and Ložionica in Belgrade. Through its programme, the 25th edition reflects the diversity of contemporary choreographic practice and explores questions of identity, cultural memory, community, belonging and the relationship between the individual and society.

The Festival is committed to artistic excellence while remaining open to experimentation, new choreographic languages, interdisciplinary approaches and artists whose work expands the boundaries of contemporary dance. Since its establishment, Belgrade Dance Festival has developed into one of the most significant international dance platforms in Southeast Europe, connecting Serbian audiences with major choreographers, companies and performers from around the world. Over more than two decades, the Festival has played an important role in developing audiences for contemporary dance and positioning Belgrade and Serbia within the international performing arts network. Beyond presenting performances, the Festival creates long-term cultural connections between Serbia and the international performing arts sector, encourages artistic mobility and exchange, supports dialogue between different cultural contexts and generations, and strengthens the visibility of contemporary dance as a vital, innovative and constantly evolving art form.

The 25th edition marks an important milestone in the Festival’s development, reaffirming its commitment to presenting relevant international artistic voices, creating meaningful encounters between artists and audiences, and building sustainable international partnerships for the future.
