2nd "Nomads" Transhumance Festival

27 Aug 2026 - 30 Aug 2026
Kefalovriso Ioannina, Greece

The Festival celebrates and promotes the living cultural heritage of the ancient practice of transhumance, a practice with significant cultural, environmental and agri-food value, which for centuries has been a basic occupation of mountain communities and has shaped the mountain landscape. The practice is a living repository of knowledge and wisdom in relation to the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, incorporating modern concepts such as sustainability and the circular economy. The Festival invites us to redefine our relationship with nature, learning from this practice through interactive workshops of traditional practices and techniques, talks and discussions, photo exhibitions and music!
