The International Ankara Music Festival is one of Ankara’s longest-running and most prestigious cultural events, organized annually by the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation since 1985. It celebrates music and performing arts with both Turkish and international artists and aims to reflect the musical heritage of the capital city of Türkiye.Another tradition of the festival is to reflect the musical capacity of Ankara — the cultural capital where Türkiye’s first polyphonic music movement began and where the first music institutions and schools were established — and to include artists from Ankara in the program every year. Performances of works by Turkish composers are also among the festival’s indispensable elements.
