Established in 1989, Ars Musica is a biennal festival of contemporary music. Since it started, the festival has established itself as an unmissable event in the European contemporary music calendar. Past editions have featured music creations by Pierre Boulez, György Ligeti, Pascal Dusapin, Helmut Lachenman, Pierre Bartholomée, Philippe Boesmans, Bernard Foccroule, Jean-Paul Dessy, Jean-Luc Fafchamps, Benoît Mernier, Claude Ledoux, and many others, with performances by prestigious individuals and ensembles such as the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, Ictus, l’OPRL, l’ONB, and Brussels Philharmonic… With 30 years of experience, the festival has already featured over 800 composers, with each edition including over 35 new composers, and it has been instrumental in publicising many Belgian and international artists.
