Since 2001 Bartók Plus has become a major opera event in the European Union and most specifically in Central Eastern Europe. It is the only opera festival in Hungary, and with its most comprehensive presentation of Bartók's oeuvre, the world's pre-eminent Bartók festival. "Plus" refers to our mission; presenting opera after Bartók taking into account the fact that the future of the opera genre lies with the birth of new popular opera capable of addressing broad audiences, and also with performances making opera accessible to the widest possible public. We strive to make everybody feel that this Festival is their own, and that we want everyone to take their share of it.
