The Fringe Festival is the world's premier live entertainment festival.

Thanks to a national Fringe circuit, which has been rooted in Milan for years, this year Catania will also become one of the main protagonists.

Faithful to the spirit of the Fringe Festival—the desire to overturn reality and involve all citizens— and in a great celebration of theater and performing arts, the "Off" Fringe Festival travels across Italy from north to south. This artistic dialogue is the result of years of experience, and it uses the same organizational model as most of its national and international partners in order to continue the mission of the Fringe: to increase the G.D.H, or Gross Domestic Happiness.

The Catania Off Fringe Festival is preparing to invade the streets and public squares of the city in a riot of music, dance, theater, debates and performing arts of various kinds, as only a true "Off" Fringe Festival can do.

The Festival lives in the participating theatrical structures of the city, welcoming professional companies from all over the world selected through an international Artists Call, in a competition with various ambitious prizes up for grabs.

Yet Catania Off Fringe Festival is not only in professional theatrical spaces; it is also home to pubs, museums, and shops of the city, as well as smaller theater houses, art galleries and gardens which, for the two weeks of the Festival, will host various performances and events outside of the official competition.

In this way, the Festival makes quality shows easily accessible beyond most institutional performing arts circuits, and becomes a showcase for independent professional productions on both the national and international art market. The line-up is developed through a direct exchange between the central areas of the city and the networks of the various districts of Catania, as well as in lesser-served areas, with the primary objective being to promote inclusion and participation. The project brings significant benefits for all productive and commercial activities, even those with poor visibility.

A Festival not only in the city, but OF the city, aimed at obtaining the maximum involvement of the social and economic fabric of Catania.
