CirkoBalkana 12 Zagreb
The contemporary circus festival in the circus tent (and around it) CirkoBalkana started in 2013 in the co-production of Cirkorama from Zagreb, Croatia and Cirkusfera from Belgrade, Serbia, and since then it takes place in both of the cities.After the jubilee 10th edition in 2022 and circus performances of a wide range of contemporary circuses, in Zagreb, we decided to dive deeper into circus techniques and discover the diversity of performance vocabularies within individual contemporary circus microcosms.Since 2023 the festival in Zagreb gets the subtitle MONODISCIPLINE, which is a kind of twist in the concept and the programming itself, reduced to a selection of performances based on only one circus technique.
In 2024. we are focusing on "circus in the box" inviting the artists who are creating in different "box" sizes, mostly aquariums, dealing with the question of borders and limitations of the body and creation.
