From the Jeseníky mountains in the north to the fertile Haná plains in the south, the Olomouc Region is shaped by cultural diversity, which includes over 30 supraregional festivals and hundreds of other events for the 600,000 inhabitants.
The region, in which traditions develop alongside the latest trends in culture, is rich in history, which, especially in the post-war period (1945) and after the Velvet Revolution (1989), determined its destinies. The festival scene is diverse: theater (Olomouc Shakespeare Summer), classical music (International Music Festival of Karl Ditters of Dittersdorf), blues (Blues Alive), jazz (International Czeschoslovak Jazz Festival Prerov), film (PAF), folklore (Haná Folklore Society), ecology (EDO), street art (Street Art Festival), gastronomy (Street Food Festival) and creativity (Olomouc Design Days).
