The COSTA VICENTINA Early Music Fest is a biannual festival of historically informed practice (HIP) in Southwest Portugal, Algarve, aiming at bringing regional, national and international professional musicians specialised in historical artistic practice into a deeply decentralised and rural area of Portugal.

The festival takes place in the medieval Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, located near Raposeira, Vila do Bispo, Algarve, with concerts and mediation activities, such as workshops and talks.

As a theme, the festivals explores the many cross-cultural influences of Early Music as an intercultural dialogue musical genre.

This first edition of the Festival took place on Saturday July 31st and thereafter on every Saturday during August 2021 at 4.00 pm, aiming at the musical connections between the West and the East, between Europe and Asia, and between the past and the present. In parallel to the concerts, the 'Costa Vicentina Early Music Fest' also brought three open classes, dedicated to the themes of the concerts which took place in the Auditorium at Sagres Fortress on August 6th, 13th and 20th. This 1st Ed. was funded by the Garantir Cultura programme, with the Portuguese Republic - Ministry of Culture as institutional partner and with the support of the Algarve Regional Directorate for Culture and Antena2.
