The first Circus Village in Portugal is set up by the sea, next to Arcozelo's walkways, always in the month of September. The event Cupula Circus Village Festival, dedicated to contemporary circus, is an organization of INAC – National Institute of Circus Arts in partnership with the Parish Council of Arcozelo
Between shows, masterclasses, circus workshops for families, street performances, musical moments, circus school exchanges, a conference and an exhibition, there is no shortage of arguments for one or more visits to this parish of Vila Nova de Gaia. All activities are free of charge.
The program is based on the presentation of circus shows in tents and alternative stages in the village, where the main activities for the development of audiences will be carried out. During the period of the festival, Arcozelo becomes a cultural and artistic centre common to the offer of contemporary circus in its various aspects.
The festival took place for the first time in 2018, having been interrupted in 2020 due to the pandemic. In its third edition and after the pandemic, the organization opted for a mostly national program as a way of supporting contemporary circus production, ranging from leading companies to emerging companies and artists performing in Portuguese territory.
INAC is a platform exclusively dedicated to the contemporary circus in Portugal, acting in the area of training, residencies, creation, programming and social inclusion.
