DanzEstate 2026

Since 2013, every June, for five days, from morning until late evening, a park in the heart of the city comes to life, transforming into a fantasy world. 

At each edition, the sets, costumes, group games and treasure hunt, as well as a carefully curated soundscape, are inspired by a new theme. 

DanzEstate takes place in the Giardini Pubblici of Cagliari, a venue that provides the perfect setting for its imaginative productions. 

The theme for the 2026 edition takes us back in time to Nuragic Sardinia. 

DanzEstate programme focuses primarily on dance and dance-theatre performances designed for children, characterised by strong audience interaction. DanzEstate hosts international companies, whilst ensuring that Sardinian artists are given space and prominence; it collaborates with students and teachers from local art schools, and involves set designers, costume designers, craftspeople, visual artists, musicians, and many other professionals in creating immersive experiences for the audience.

DanzEstate also includes a rich variety of educational activities, such as creative and artistic workshops in dance, theatre, music, painting and crafts. The educational and artistic workshops range from music education to art history, from set design and costume design to acting and dance. 

The art workshops include a final sharing session, culminating in the creation of a short group performance. 

Creative workshops are a way to develop manual skills, design abilities and soft skills.

Roadshows. Looking forward to DanzEstate:  Shardana 

1, 5, 6, 12, 13  June 2026 Where: Parks, the seafront and public gardens in Cagliari. A poetic stroll that will continue at DanzEstate, exploring the history of Sardinia, ecology and love for our land, with many short stories designed for our audience of new Shardana warriors. 

The Festival. DanzEstate 2026 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 June 2026 Giardini Pubblici, Cagliari Dance and theatre performances, puppets, marionettes, readings of children’s literature, organised games and themed creative workshops, treasure hunts, music, storytelling, and workshops in dance, theatre and the visual arts. 

DanzEstate’s activities are designed for children aged 3 to 12.
