Datça Almond Blossom Festival

The Datça Almond Blossom Festival is held during the period when the Datça Peninsula is transformed into a landscape of white and pink almond blossoms, celebrating the region’s natural beauty while promoting its local culture and agricultural heritage. Reflecting the idea that “the entire peninsula is a festival,” the programme extends beyond Datça town centre to neighbourhoods and villages across the peninsula, bringing local communities and visitors together in a shared celebration.

One of the festival’s most colourful highlights is the opening parade, which features local music and folk dance groups, associations, community organisations, marching bands and performers in vibrant costumes. The programme also includes free public concerts, traditional folk dance performances, art and literary events, children’s activities and creative workshops.

Gastronomy is another central element of the festival. Visitors can experience traditional wedding dishes, local almond- and herb-based cuisine, and an award-winning cooking competition that showcases Datça’s culinary heritage. The festival also supports almond producers and local agriculture through farmers’ competitions such as the “Fastest Almond Cracking,” “Largest Almond” and “Best-Maintained Orchard” contests.

Datça’s natural environment forms an integral part of the festival experience through a wide range of outdoor and nature sports, including trekking, cycling tours, rock climbing, marathon races and water sports.
