Festival Catalysi 2023

Catalysi is a festival of the performing, sound and visual arts, that acts as a point of convergence between local research, rooted as the festival is in the small Italian city of Cesena, and an international artistic scope.

The ambition underlying Catalysi is to valorise the impetus involved in starting things, by giving space to artists at the beginning of their careers. Many artists, not only young ones, despite finding themselves in difficult conditions, pursue quality in their work. Catalysi is dedicated to discovering them, not only in the less visible areas of the Italian scene, but also across Europe.

This project stems from the school residency system that goes by the same name at the Teatro Comandini, curated by Claudia Castellucci, a dramaturge, choreographer and teacher, co-founder of Societas (formerly Societas Raffaello Sanzio). This theatre company, based in Cesena and famous all over the world, thus dedicates attention, space and even economic commitment to creating a working context and for, and giving visibility to all those who are setting out on their path of research.

The form of a festival was chosen because it represents an intention to attract a multitude of people, while at the same time cultivating the highest degree of artistic quality.

The Catalysi Festival – entrusted to the young curator Guillermo de Cabanyes – is set in a multidisciplinary and intensive space in order to encourage a union between artists and the public, also investing in soliciting sector professionals, to give a future to what is presented.
