Footnote Festival

13 Mar 2024 - 17 Mar 2024
Zagreb, Croatia

Festival Fusnota (Footnote Festival) is the youngest Croatian literary festival, and it is organized by Edicije Božičević, a small independent publishing house from Zagreb, Croatia. The festival is based on presenting young international authors to the Croatian audience - the goal is to present authors from less translated areas and languages and to provide them with a platform for future translations and more chances to get recognized and published in the Western Balkans. In addition to international authors, the festival will also provide the opportunity for Croatian authors to participate in 2 different programs. The 3 main programs included in the festival edition are the Authors' Forum (where Croatian writers will present international writers and hold talks with them), the Literary Translators' Forum (in which book editors will present Croatian literary translators working on the festival edition and will talk about the specificities of their work and their working conditions), and Jarmekovo (or Dani Franje Jarmeka) - a selection of the worst poetry collection officially published in Croatia in the previous year. The goal of the festival is to be absolutely inclusive, open, free (all programs are free of charge and held in accessible locations), and engaging to students who strive to be professionals in the literary scene.
