Góbéfest
Góbéfest is a vibrant festival of arts and culture from the Carpathian Basin presenting a rich variety of music, dance and arts from Transylvania, Eastern and Central Europe in Manchester, UK. Now in it’s third year the festival is fast becoming an established event, attracting a lively diverse crowd to Manchester City Centre. The family arts & culture festival offers plenty of activities and entertainment for children and adults alike. It draws up to 17000 people every years appealing to a multicultural audience. Góbéfest has a unique Transylvanian theme bringing the lesser known Sekler Góbé minority culture to the forefront, whilst also facilitating cultural exchange, multicultural collaboration,trade, bringing people together through music, dance and culture.
The stage features high quality performances and a very rich musical repertoire from classical to opera, folk and rock. Góbéfest turns Manchester City Centre into a Dance House, where the audience can get involved in a large community circle dance each day, holding hands skipping and hopping to the sound of fiddles and some more unusual instruments. Performers include community groups, children and young people from local Eastern European communities schools; alongside well known professional dance and music acts from the UK, Hungary, Romania and beyond.
