Góbéfest is the UK's only free weekend-long festival to celebrate the legendary region of Transylvania and the Carpathian Basin

Now in its 6th year, the festival will take place Friday 24-Sunday 26 June in Manchester's Cathedral Gardens.

Góbéfest is celebration of arts & culture from Transylvania & the Carpathian Basin with music, dance, cuisine, activities for the whole family. Showcasing a wild mix of live music from folk, punk, rock, gypsy jazz to classical, opera & operetta.

Over the last five years the festival has grown to include more cultures from around eastern and central Europe, particularly around the area known as the Carpathian Basin including Romania, Hungary, Poland,Bulgaria and more

A Góbé is a friendly word for a ‘crafty Székely’.

This year the last day of the festival will be dedicated to dance showcasing UK dance groups from a wealth of Eastern European cultures .
