Bains numériques, International Digital Arts Biennial

10 Jun 2020 - 14 Jun 2020
Enghien-les-Bains, France

The International Biennial of Digital Arts, Bains numériques, was created in 2005 under the patronage of UNESCO and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication as France's first festival dedicated to the Media arts. Today it is one of three leading events in its field, along with SIGGRAPH and ARS Electronica in Austria.

For its 10th edition, Bains numériques proposed a rich mix of installations, performances, concerts, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and immersive environments, to the audience on the theme of “Human future”. During four days, the innovative artistic projects take over the lake, streets, buildings and parks around the thermal spa resort on the outskirts of Paris.

A key component of the Biennial is the Bains numériques international competition which puts the spotlight on a selection of hybrid shows fusing digital arts, dance, music and theatre. Combining international submissions, a jury and a prize fund, this competition sets out to identify, disseminate, support and guide transdisciplinary projects that fall outside the scope of traditional creative disciplines.

This free event combines live performances in the public space, international competitions and professional meetings. It is dedicated to a large public both at local and international level.

Since the 9th edition, the festival also offers an international fair during two days. In this Digital Fabric, the public will discover and experiment with innovative products and new trends such as Augmented reality, virtual reality, robotics, connected objects, artificial intelligence…

A crossing in the nearby worlds of art, sciences and technology, the projects from the Digital Factory showcase French and international artists, universities, research institutes and companies.
