International Festival for Children’s Theatre „Igor Madzirov“ 2023

This initiative to make a new theatre festival, focused on the world of children’s professional theatre production, aims to promote new content, forms, events and trends in the sphere of children’s theatre today.

Conceptually speaking, the festival will develop in two directions. The first one is promoting new world trends in reinventing children’s theatre through hosting theatre shows from abroad and one Macedonian show within the MAIN COMPETITIVE program. After the selection stage, a committee will decide what shows will participate in the festival.

The second direction is towards creating professional art potential through participation but also towards involving as many professionals as possible in this specific field. This will be achieved through workshops in the field of children’s theater production aimed at the students from the Macedonian theatre faculties and through holding debates, panel discussions on various topics referring to children’s theatre production today and promotion of other art forms in the field of creative works for children and young people.

The second festival edition is dedicated to the “Small forms” of performances: puppet theatre, shadow theater, dance, physical, music theatre and other forms and aesthetics, created from professional theatre productions for children and youth.
