As a festival of national significance, its objective is to present and affirm traditional culture and folklore of numerous local and international participants from all continents. The 56th IFF will present the theme "Traditional heritage between Central Europe and Mediterranean" and it will showcase the values of ethnographic and folklore creativity in the modern life of the European Union.

The program of the festival includes stage performances in controlled conditions due to COVID-19 threat, folk theatre, ethnographic screenings, exhibitions, dance workshops, fair of traditional arts and crafts, ethno music concerts and church folk singing.
