Kimolos Experience Festival
"Kimolistes NGO" had its tenth birthday on September 2021 while launched the first KIMOLOS EXPERIENCE FESTIVAL this year, too, comprising a wide range of events related to the island's Cycladic identity.
The open-air cinema "Cine Kalisperitis",
has the screenings at the Medieval Castle and the famous beaches. Cine Kalisperitis was chosen at the BRAVO Sustainability Dialogue & Awards-Appointed Ambassador of Sustainable Development for 2022, in Greece. It highlights initiatives that promote Sustainable Development which support the creation of the Greece of tomorrow.
It was awarded the 1st Prize for 2021 by the European Cultural Tourism Network https://www.culturaltourism-ne... being transferred to remote beaches under the stars with 150-200 lanterns set up and torches; along with the "Open Libraries" award by the "Greek IBBY Distinction" in 2019, the workshops, Lectures, Concerts, the Boat Libraries and Trekking to familiarize the tourists and islanders with the Kimolian paths where our ancestors left their imprint is the point of reference for the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. https://www.kimolistes.com/cin...
During the Festival our inspirer of "Cine Kalisperitis", Mr. Fotis Marinakis does his best to enforce the bonds with our history and tradition with events that take place in the Medieval Castle "The Kastro" at Chorio. "Kimolos Experience" Festival promotes community welfare on a volunteer base, while local people’s involvement and those of our volunteers worldwide conduces to tourists’ satisfaction. Our intention is to increase the number of our volunteers being involved in unique schemes and transmit the feeling of respect for the maintenance of our cultural -Kimolian traits untouched.
Kimolos Experience Festival has as an intention for the next year 2022 to have a standard type of events on, lectures, workshops on tradition, writing and creating stories with kids with the use of drawings and paintings as a part of collaborating with other non profit organizations, being the Ambassador/ Global CoHost of two of them; the MULTICULTURAL CHILDREN'S DAY & INERNATIONAL READ TO ME DAY in order to promote arts and writing.Our member Agatha Rodi, an educator and writer will introduce workshops on STORYTELLING & CREATIVE WRITING as an effort to safeguard the Kimolian tradition, inspiring the youngs to write fairy tales. Our first picture book on Kimolos with the islanders' participation is going to be released in July 2022 with a variety of workshops following its launch.
On June 25th, 2022 for the very first time our newly formed THEATRICAL GROUP OF KIMOLOS https://www.facebook.com/group...gave its first performance of the comedy "TOC TOC" by Laurent Baffie, at the Medieval Castle, with great success. Having a second one to follow in July 2022.
