Kutaisi International Short Film Festival

The Kutaisi International Short Film Festival exists since 2020. The first edition of the festival took place amid the pandemic, respecting all regulations. Kutaisi, the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Georgia, hosts the festival. The city boasts a diverse historical and cultural heritage - from dinosaur footprints and the myth of the Argonauts to UNESCO-protected architectural monuments. Moreover, Kutaisi has been the ancient capital of Georgia for centuries and the birthplace of a 115-year-old Georgian filmmaking tradition.

Each year, the festival attracts roughly 5,000 guests. Alongside the showcase of short films, it hosts a number of industry events such as the Rezo Gabriadze Script Development Workshop, Film Critics Workshop, and Cinematographers Workshop. These events foster learning and development in the field, giving participants the opportunity to engage with industry professionals.

The Kutaisi International Short Film Festival intends to bring cinema back to Kutaisi, with a mission to revive the region's cultural life and help the city celebrate cinema annually. The festival's primary focus is on short films, aiming to discover new talents and voices in the film industry. Additionally, it highlights the importance and values of short films, with a goal of boosting their popularity among the public.

The next edition of the festival will be held from 20 till 25 October. The planned events include lectures, master classes, and workshops, promising an enriching experience for all participants and attendees.
