Kwidzyn All Souls' Jazz - a series of jazz concerts, organised in many Polish cities in November during the all soul period.
The oldest cycle of concerts is the Jazz All Souls' Day in Krakow, which already has over half a century of tradition. In 1954, jazzmen for the first time met on November 1 in the gymnasium of the Krakow primary school at ul. Queen Jadwiga. It was the only day off when they could meet and play a jam session together. Tyrmand appeared, who started playing the Swanee River pipe, then played Melomani, Komeda, Kurylewicz, Witold Sobociński and other musicians from Warsaw, Poznań and Silesia.
In the following years in the period of Zaduszek, well-known jazzmen from all over Poland came to Krakow and played together, often in private apartments. Krzysztof Komeda, Jerzy Matuszkiewicz, Andrzej Trzaskowski and Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski attracted many jam enthusiasts to the jam session.
From 1956, the preparation of subsequent Zaduszek was done by the Jazz Club "Helikon". They have developed under his patronage on a larger scale. Concerts were held, among others in the Philharmonic and at the Piwnica pod Baranami
Zaduszki in Siedlce (from 1957), in Poznań (since 2002), Bydgoszcz (from 1961), Wrocław, Ełk, and Opole (since 1994) have a long tradition.
Pomorskie Zaduszki Jazzowe have been held since 1998 in many places in Gdynia and Gdańsk with the participation of Pomeranian jazz musicians. Smaller towns also regularly organize Jazz All Souls. In Węgorzewo, there are jazz All Souls with the participation of famous musicians of the Polish jazz scene.
Zaduszki in many cities is preparing the Dominican Order. In Warsaw, they take place at the seat of the Order on Freta Street and in Służew, as well as in Krakow, Lublin and Rzeszów.
The tradition of organizing Jazz All Souls has also moved abroad. From 2006, Jazz All Souls' Day takes place in Toronto, during which famous Polish jazzmen play. They were initiated by Polish-Canadian vocalist and composer Ola Turkiewicz, who performed alongside guitarist Jarosław Śmietana. The concert was also attended by Canadian jazzmen: Don Thompson, Neil Swainson, Reg Shwager, and Terry Clarke.
